Progetti d’arte contemporanea nel giardino autogestito a cura di Angelo Castucci e Bert Theis

Special project: UTOPIA PRODUCTIONS, documentation and materials.

In the context of the theoretical and artistic research ISOLA UTOPIA, Isola Art Center dedicates special attention to projects that it considers examples of concrete utopias or seeds of utopia in contemporary capitalist society: the self-managed garden Isola Pepe Verde and the occupied and self-managed factory  RiMaflow. At the Isola Art Center stand one can find a small documentation of the last episode of ISOLA UTOPIA at RiMaflow, there will also be eco-friendly products from the recovered factories RiMaflow from Milan and Bio.Me. from Thessaloniki (Greece). UTOPIA PRODUCTIONS includes a film by Dario Azzellini & Oliver Ressler, an installation by Nikolay Oleynikov and a mural painting by Edith Poirier. Projects can be visited at RiMaflow during the opening hours of the factory.

The TALEA project includes:

– the realization of a small Cardiospermum halicacabum garden, a climbing herbaceous plant with small white flowers used for medicinal purposes. The very common plant in India, South America and Central Africa, is hard to find in our country, but certainly of great interest in the field of herbal medicine.
a pictorial intervention on some of rainwater containers, with a special paint, which prevents overheating of the water due to solar radiation.
– a pictorial intervention on a metal door dedicated to the utopian spirit of Isola Pepe Verde.
the diffusion on the adjacent parking of the recorded sounds from the garden

– the recycling of used cork caps for the construction of seats that take the shape of a leaf

– a workshop for children and parents organized with the self-managed kindergarten Soprasotto.
– a guide of the Isola district from below, in contrast to the urban transformation of the new district Porta Nuova with its luxurious   skyscrapers and its shopping center.
a large banner that, playing with the ambiguous concept of island, emphasizes the need and the ability to be open to others.
a pictorial intervention that reproduces the presence of plants in the garden on a number of canvas bags.

Tuesday, May 17, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.: Guided tour of the exhibition and meeting with the artists.
